Slow Your Roll

Written with love & care by Drew Henry

Bright side in the twilight

Feather’s so light

Helps to glide

In it for the ride

To walk away

Stranded on the borderline

Sullenly in flight

Or fight some bullshit fight

Loosened bar stool inhibitions

Jus a look at the bartender

& your usual is poured

Resistance of prohibition

Light on the edge of the tavern

Ring we used to draw around Saturn

Dragon flare & beat up blues

Guess who flew the coupe…

Train rattling

Traffic battling

Some shackles in some makeshift cage

A way out in some underground cave

A double shot for the black eye

Two shots & a pack of ice

Not a lot to offer

Profit off of the wave

Water flow, cloud drift

To catch a drift is nice

Back alley smoke,

Some slow burning joke

Moonlit owls & moonlit howls

The riff gets played

The bill gets paid

Some go home & get laid

Others hit the hay

Dawn breaks away

Steady as she goes

Tea brewed & a kettle hiss

Morning slowness

She floats along like the breeze

Half naked in the kitchen

On the ledge hops a kitten

And i’m barely up

Jus awake enough to sip some coffee

She throws on her tight baby blue jeans

She’s headed out the door

And after a smoke on the porch

So am i, headed back to the tavern

A little beer to wash down the coffee

Guess i’m jus trying to open up my eyes

And let the world slip into coolness

To jus let the day get to where it’s going

She’ll get to where she’s headed

i’m sure of it…

they come around from time to time

i’m jus trying to waste away the day

in the most pleasant way

To porch smokes, ledge kittens & baby blue jeans

A little kiss & sip of something real

Grey fog smoke & the blanket feel

Guess i’ll have another & close out

Back to pavement chasing

Finding ways to both spend the day & waste away

Reading paper & rolling paper

& the tavern stays open

the girls do whatever they damn well please

Still throwing away loose change on a vice

Pleasure seeker, abode meditator,

to feel something, to numb the same

to catch the fleeting moments

guess we never had to chase

Waste, waste, waste

Embrace, embrace, embrace

Slow your roll

Guess we can’t get too caught up anyways
